NEC in New Zealand

NEC Corporation of Japan was founded in 1898 and has since grown to become an international leader in electronic and telecommunications products.

For over 30 years NEC in New Zealand has earned an enviable reputation as a highly effective and reliable supplier to New Zealand's electronic, broadcasting and communications industry. Reporting directly to Japan, NEC New Zealand Limited was formed in 1999, with the merging of NEC Corporation's local delivery, support and marketing functions into one organisation.

Our presence in New Zealand stems from our involvement that started with the installation of the satellite earth station No. 1 at Warkworth for New Zealand Post Office. NEC also built New Zealand's first digital telephone exchange for Telecom New Zealand in 1982 and we have continued to provide innovative solutions since then. The fact is NEC has been pivotal in the evolution of New Zealand's communications and broadcast network.
