Telesmart Ethernet solution is a flexible, high speed, layer 2 networking solution that links customer LAN's across two or more sites within a city in point-to-point or point-to-multipoint configurations. It enables you to design, build and manage high speed data networks based on Ethernet technology in the backbone/core, access network or both.

Our Ethernet services through TelstraClear managed network utilise a gigabit Ethernet-switched metropolitan area network, with points of presence in the cities of Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.

Service features
W-ETN supports a wide range of routeable network protocols including TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, DECnet, Appletalk and VINES. You can also use to transport non-routeable protocols such as NETBIOS, NetBEUI and LAT.
State of the art switches deployed in TCL POP's and customer buildings provide you with ready to use W-ETN service delivery points. There are three types of Ethernet service configuration - Point to Point, Multipoint and Aggregated, please find more details below.
Telesmart Ethernet offering
Telesmart offer three types of Ethernet service configuration - Point to Point, Multipoint and Aggregated:
- Point-to-Point Metro Ethernet
- Point-to-Point bandwidth between two sites in a metro area with Ethernet interfaces.
- The two sites are placed in one Ethernet segment.
- Allows the connection of more than 2 sites to the same Ethernet segment .
- Any-to-Any connectivity
- Inter-Metro Ethernet : Point-to-Point and Multipoint bandwidth between sites in different metro area with Ethernet interfaces. The service utilises draft Martini Tunnels to deliver the inter-metro component of the bandwidth
- Aggregated Ethernet Service: Reduces the number of ports and cables going into a service provider hub site. It allows multiple Point-to-Point or Multipoint services to be delivered to a single Ethernet trunk port at the service provider POP site. Delivery is by TelstraClear VLAN.
